Angela will not stand there and allow herself to feel inadequate or undermined, and immediately removes herself from the situation by ending the conversation and walking away from those who confront her.
Biggest secret: Had an affair with a married man for six months straight, and eventually became pregnant. They went to high school together and met again after he walked into the bar she was working at at that time, and immediately began to speak to each other once again. Decided to give their baby to Steve, who convinced her into allowing both him and his wife adopt her on the condition that she will not keep contact with Harper and that he gives her monetary compensation. His wife is not aware of their affair at the time of adoption. Angela and Steve do not keep any communication.
Overall: Angela Marie Quinn is a good person, and opts to live a minimal and spiritually-based lifestyle because it makes her feel safe and comfortable. She is not a fan of structure and likes to adapt and change to all situations. Angela has made poor-life decisions but turned her life around right after her daughter was born and once again after she adopted. She thinks about Harper often but knows better than to reach out to her and Steve, because she realizes the obvious repercussions associated with Harper finding her.

Dear Cynthia,
ReplyDeleteYou've done a very good job of making this character a real person, with flaws and interests and a clear history and desires. I like the contrast between the holistic part of her life (yoga, reiki), and the more sales-person part of her life in selling time shares. That makes me believe that she may have her own internal conflict--one part of her wants to be a healer, and the other needs to make money and is possibly more practical. I also found it odd and interesting that she has a parrot and wondered if there was anything more we could make of that (possibly not--but it's a cool detail.). If her typical model for dealing with conflict is to walk away and therefore not deal with it directly, what if the podcast was a bit more around the day she didn't turn her back, but instead decided to fact the conflict head on? The other big question i have is how she feels about her decision to give up harper. does she wonder about her at all? does she keep track of her age--like, see another little girl and think about how old harper would be? or has she firmly shut the door and moved on, which is a possibility too, and could this podcast be a bit about how she might deal with the past coming back to force her to deal with her decision? A lot to like here. Great work with detail and specificity.
